I only changed one key (crouch to “c”) but that stuck. I also did some minor graphics changes like turning off depth of field - habit from an older pc,probably wasn’t necessary on this one. I might try running it under dx12 next time.

It’s certainly a beautiful looking game. I’m assuming these are the final textures.

Obviously, like most games,it’s frustrating to be killed by people who have better guns (and anyone else).

The game itself will be more frustrating and better once it gets off softcore.

I appreciate that we would go with the majority opinion, but is there any chance we could play a different game type to domination?

I find it so tedious.....

I'd be happy with that Falky, though it slightly depends on whether we all end up on the same map. Also I'm not sure what game types are available. Isn't Conquest/Domination the shorter game? I've a nasty feeling the other one goes on for a lot longer. (then again, as it's beta it's kind of pointless trying to level up anyway - all this useless beauty etc)

Hmm, here's a take on weapon progression:

My hissy fit last night was not to do with any of the game mechanic, or how it runs, or any of that. Frankly as a game beta for me it runs fantastically. I've had more problems with the Origin overlay than the BF5 game.

For me, I find the game hard work at the moment being softcore and all. (Heck I won't play the latest cod on softcore but am forced to play it in this beta). This is why you get the frustrations over emptying a clip into someone and then getting killed by them with a pistol.

But really more than that it's the current beta / try out mechanic. TS is really loud and crowded with a lot of us on different pages in the game, attacking different objectives, in different squads (and sometimes on different fecking maps).
There's that fecking announcer who you can't turn off talking over things in a god awful voice like something out of Allo Allo. This is a much harder game than cod and I find ts just too much of a mess of noise to cope with. You're trying to give people useful intel but because we're not acting as a unified team but rather as little mobs (cos of the whole try it out thing which is fair enough)intel is pointless as we're all over the place. It's just a really frustrating cacophonic mess.

Incidentally, on the matter of squads. I repeatedly met people who were playing sensibly. Your squad seems to work best if it sticks together. So if a soldier goes down, one guy hangs back (to respawn on), two guys go forward to either revive the fallen or kill the shooter/s and then revive. Far too often I was in a squad (and I was doing this as much as the next guy - this is pure hindsight) and we were either running about solo like cod gods, or else we'd run into fire as a group and get squad wiped.

To clarify. I like the game. I think it's beautiful and has great potential. Because it's coming out late I was given the option by Origin to cancel my pre order and I'm not taking it. I'm looking forward (I think) to the whole game in November (despite what will be for me a 4 nights of download for what I think will be about 50gb).
But it will have to come in HC servers for me to play later. And we really need to approach it in a more organised fashion, or it makes TS quite pointless.
Anyway, that's my take on it.

Apologies for any contribution I made to your lack of enjoyment by not responding very well to you efforts to provide useful intel.

I was rather "out of it" most of the time, so my involvement was limited to say the least.

Not you Falky, not anyone really. Which was rather the point. Chaos you know? To be honest between TS and the game itself I was pretty lost too. Hence the early bail (& even that wasn’t straight forward).

Trailer...

Maggot - It was the Battle Royale variant I didn't like - not the multiplayer.

Um. Why is this in the BF V thread?

Actually, be handy to have a blops x thread to see just who and how many are interested.

Although I’ve not seen gameplay from it, nor heard feedback from anyone who tried the beta, I’m not particularly interested in it at present. If the current cod game has taught us anything - it’s that only half the problem is the game itself. The cheating and just frankly unpleasantness of the majority of players are making these games a chore to play.
I can’t recall the last time we played a cod game where the majority of the conversation wasn’t about one cheating turd or another.

(Not that I know BF5’s gonna be any better- it seems to be one of the many disadvantages to not having our own server)
