Wot a total Dwayne.
My motherboard (that's a Asus P8Z68-V Pro) is resplendent with Sata sockets.... eight in fact.
Two of which are clearly descibed in the manual as "data only". Guess where my System disk was plugged in.... for the last four years.
Let's just say that's cured the lagging/slow load times in WWII. But my pride sure needs mouth to mouth.
