since I patched (1.6) the game it won't run,gets as far as the white bar loading screen then drops back to desk top.

Speaking as a man downloading this thing overnight...
LA are you up to date on graphics drivers? (the last one that Villan posted about I'm yet to install)
Also there were a couple of Windows patches too (it being that time of the month)
I'm assuming everyone else is ok so that's all I can suggest.
I googled it and there weren't a lot of people reporting an issue with the latest patch (or not yet)

It might be the dual monitor problem - if you have 2 - try unplugging / disabling one.

If you haven't already done so - re-enable the 2nd monitor while you're in game, then try restarting it.

Um.
So all my guns appear to be level 1 now. Which considering some of them still have access to later level perks is odd but some guns appear to have gone back to vanilla. Anyone else? Any known fix?

Yep. my guns say level 1, but are still levelling up with access to unlocked items. Occasionally they will show the real level, then reset after a match. There several UI errors, like the challenges de-selecting and not showing progress until you're in a game, the Ground War spawn selection changes to weapon loadout instead after a few seconds etc. You can save a customization you've made - see my guide here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=190
