If i kept it to Europe it would try to download then fail.
Changing it to Americas meant it downloaded, but the speed was less than a 1/4 of my normal speed - it finished after midnight.

Thanks Villan.
Am I right that the new season starts in about a week at which point I seem to recall we get hit with another large download? If that's the case I may as well wait for that. I'm reluctant to start Battlenet up in case doing so automatically starts a download that instantly corrupts the game, prompting the dread 171 reload.

Well, according to those links there is still no fix, so best to hold off for now.
Season 3 is slated for Tuesday 7 April, so if you held off till then you should only get an accumulated update.
If there is a fix soon then that's 20Gb this week plus the Season 3 update - Season 2 was 67 Gb for reference.

Very odd....
I still have Battlenet on my "old" PC, so decided to start the download to see what size it would be now. I set the source to "Americas" and....
This time it was 112Gb. WTF?

I had not hit the issue and had been playing fine - but just logged on and boom 171g updater

FFS - it's doing it again for me too. 171 Gb. Again.
So, it hangs when I'm on Europe and downloads @ 10 MB/s on Americas.
Maggot do not attempt to open Battlenet!

I'm waiting till April 7 in the hope that the new season comes with a fix (or at least just one huge patch)
That said I've copied the original directory incase of corruption (not that this will necessarily help)
