The server is running the original game, at version 1.8, not the remastered version.

Well, Lucky may not have a copy. Bullitt doesn't have one up to v1.8 and neither do I. LA and deady have rolled back to 1.7. We could scooby tonight and see about either sorting a 1.7 server in the coming week or else buy lucky, bullitt and myself (and any others a non remastered copy off steam to run on the existing server).

The CD key I think only works if the game is designed to run through steam.

Situation decided on is to download Steam £20 version of cod 4 which is the 1.8 version- NOT the REMASTERED version. This will allow us to play on the 1.8 server that Falky kindly set up for us and is working (unlike the German 1.7 server that we tried and couldn't get to work).

Deady you can get your steam version of cod4 back to 1.8 by either swapping the files back from your recycle bin and just swapping them back in having deleted first the ones you replaced them with. (Ask LA/Falky)
(You might also if you've already deleted them have to repair your prog in steam)

Anyway, this should get us all onto a workable level to play on Falky's UK server (the bastards were playing tonight - I'm downloading for another 6 hours :roll: )

The 1.8 server should be fine to play now, I have nerfed the 'chopper and adjusted the map rotation/game type settings.

I have also decided to put myself back to level 1. ;)

:evil: i had 2 kills out of that helicopter falky! Well done for sorting it all out in the end, apart from being knifed I enjoyed immensely :shock:

It has been a very long time since I’ve so looked forward to evening play, which is a sad comment on the games we’ve been playing (or more accurately the manner we’ve been forced to play in.)

Still needs a little tweaking but good fun.

I agree. Someone forgot about putting the most important ingredient in games: fun.

I have altered S&D to five rounds, switching sides each round, and altered HQ to traditional play.*

Some other possible tweaks off the top of my head.

(please other people make suggestions, if people don't agree we can discuss it but if people just sit quiet and fume, we won't know)

Is it possibly falky if you go before others in the evening to switch the gametype to dm so that object games are not hampered by uneven teams?

Equally is there any way of affecting spawn points? We did find Domination hampered last night by locked in spawns on wetwork.

Can we slightly shorten games of tdm and dm and hq? Not too much but again, if you're on a losing side, being forced to suffer it for a long time is wearing.

I don't mind if you can't or don't want to do any of the above. They're just suggestions.

I have cut down the DM & TDM time to 7.5 minutes, and set a score limit of 200. I have also reduced HQ time down to 10 minutes, also with a score limit of 200.

I can't do anything with spawn points, unfortunately.

I'm still trying to figure out the correct settings for HQ game play. Any hints, Villan?

Any further suggestion welcome. :mrgreen:
