as i have installed from disc i am limited to 1.7 and understand if you have steam version you get 1.8 . i went on m/player from menu and there was just 1 yes 1 server running! does everyone have cd or steam version?

I have 1.8 from Steam, I think LA has 1.8 too. Maggot has 1.7.

I can't find my CoD CD but got a free copy of CoD 4 with a CoD game I got from steam , some of us must of got the free cod 4 game.

If you only showed one server running bullitt I think you need to tweak the search filter - as I said, with my game patched to 1.7 (not straight from disk but with the various patches that followed the game) I show about 2000 servers - though a ton of them are modded and distant and things I wouldn't want to join. And I suspect they're all 1.7 servers.

I don't think this is an idea to abandon. I think it's something that may take a bit of setting up is all

If the worse comes to worse I'll download a copy of steam and don't mind subbing someone else a copy. It's half the cost or less than of a normal game and if we're actually going to play it rather than dip into it and abandon it, then it would be worth the cost.

I'm very keen to stick with the game, a range of game types and lots of maps. I'll chip in to help get copies from Steam too.

is it not poss to 'upgrade' to 1.8 or is that when the probs start. & what is the server running? if flakey is running 1.8 and everyone does likewise then i will bite the bullet (!)

Is the copy that Falky and LA have the Remastered version? (I see that in fact I do have a license as such for that in my purchased but not installed steam games)
I'm not sure if it's possible to buy the Remastered version as a separate game from whatever it came with - it is but at full price.



Is the server for the Remastered version or for the standard version updated to 1.8 (there are patches out in the ether that are Cod x 1.8 which I don't think are the same as the steam 1.8.) I really don't think the 1.8 was an official IW patch.
The remastered version did not get the same praise accorded the original version. And I doubt the remastered version and the older games can play on the same server whatever the patch.

Nope my steam copy is the old cod 4. seems you can put 1.8 back to 1.7.
