Ok, so last night in TS there was a general agreement that we like the game itself but the problem is frequently the public. Whether it's lag, apparent or actual cheating, unpleasant winners and sore losers, spawn campers or people who don't play the game type. The general public (and at one point I would have said the minority, but lobby after lobby suggests perhaps it's now the majority) make the game a lot less fun. Hence my end of evening rage quit. I had passed the point of enjoyment and the idea of continuing in the hope of fair play in another lobby was beyond me.
Now for some people much of the fun is about getting stuff. Earning XP, levelling up, getting new toys, camo, guns, and so on. Achievement and booty. And I can understand that. (Heck, I like it too) But I have to say that I like playing with TR because I trust them to play fair and there is something pleasing about killing a chap who's going to swear in outrage in your ear just afterwards.
It was suggested the other day that if we play private you don't get to play with any of the nice guns. Actually in private you get access to every gun and every add on. (That's how I learned what a nice gun the P90 was. It was a bitch with no add ons but in private play when you put a bunch of attachments on it really settles down. So I knew it was worthwhile levelling it up in public play)
Private play is treated almost as a game apart. You set up and save an entirely different set of weapon loadouts from your public game (as in the old cod4 custom games). You don't get to carry them into public games. You won't earn Any experience points for the time spent in private play, or for using any of the weapons. But you Will get to choose what map you play on. What gametype. And who you play with. Private play needs someone with a fast connection who's willing to lead the game (set up the games and fiddle with the admin side of it - and suffer the associated heckling)
Obviously some evenings we have barely enough in game for 2 aside. But sometimes we could do 4 aside which would make a much more tactical game then the current one's we get in public.
Now I realise if I post this up it may bug some folks, and I'm truly sorry about that. Of course, it being a clan, the sensible thing would be to have a discussion about it and reach some kind of compromise (or if I'm completely on my own on this then a majority of voices will shut me up). Silent protest however I will ignore.

i agree with you Maggot. The few hours we play together as a clan we could do private games. Most of us has levelled up mutch now and the rewards are not so big enymore. Im up for private games when we have enouh players to make teams. Then we could do some s&d to.

Maybe we could have a "TR" only night, say once a week? Of course that would depend on numbers being available, but if it was "set" that (say) Friday night was TR night, then we could make a point of being there.
We spend months playing Blops I and had a hoot just amogst ourselves. We can do the same in this game too.

I like the idea Falky, but it may need to be a moving feast.
I'm keen to not lose Bullitt now he's got the game and like a few others he's a shift worker. I think some private play may improve his view of the game.

I don't mind the occasional TR only night, but I will continue to play the main game, as I have done with all the CoDs.
BTW you know you can block players so you don't have to play them again?

You should come back in Rince. We've had a couple of side by side game nights. One TS with those who want to play public doing that, and those who want private do that. Odd numbers tend to mean free for all, but evens can be team based (just like previous cod games).

All well put Maggot
I like the ranking up although very slow at it.
All in favour of a TR session later on most nights once enough on line (ie either more than six or when we get pissed off with the public).
